George C. Schwelling began his financial services career at Merrill Lynch in 1974. Subsequently he has worked for several major New York Exchange brokerage firms including E.F. Hutton where he was one of 40 members of the prestigious Directors Advisory Council (DAC). For over 14 years he was a Senior Vice President/Financial Consultant and Portfolio Manager with Shearson Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney. At the height of his career (spring of 1994), he was managing funds for clients of over 100 independent broker-dealer firms nationwide.
Before working in the brokerage industry, he worked as a Senior Systems Analyst and Division Director of an information storage and retrieval firm for 5 years. He then worked for IBM until he left to run his own management consulting firm for 8 years. During this period of time he sold all of the distributorships (over 200) offered by Career Academy, Inc., an American Stock Exchange firm. His efforts resulted in an increase in revenues from $15,000,000 to $50,000,000 and as a result, the stock went from $5 a share to $50 a share. He was cited in Franchising Around the World as one of the most successful franchise salesmen in the industry. He has proven skills in raising money, managing businesses, marketing products & services, and setting up distribution systems and sales teams to build companies.
Mr. Schwelling graduated from the American University with a BA degree in Philosophy and Business Systems, with honors. He has been a guest speaker on many radio stations, including a CBS financial news talk show in San Francisco and the Dolan's on WOR in New York. He traveled extensively giving seminars on money management; including guest lecturing on the Queen Elizabeth II several times and has taught the investment segment of the College for Financial Planning course at George Washington University. Numerous articles on his investment strategies have appeared in national publications including the New York Times and the Washington Post, as well as Money, Registered Rep, and Financial Planning magazines. As well, Mr. Schwelling has been cited in a number of publications as being one of the top marketers of distributorships, coast-to-coast.
Currently he is helping our economy grow by introducing funders to startups directly or through his data base of over 500 professional money raisers who in turn find funders for startups. Mr. Schwelling can help almost any startup find funding from below $5M to $500M or more. He does not raise money but he introduces startups to funders or money raisers who can provide funding to startups even startups without any collateral.
